Project implemented under the ERDF Operational Program 2014 – 2020 of the Autonomous Province of Trento, with co-financing from the European Union – European Regional Development Fund, the Italian State and the Autonomous Province of Trento

The company Graziadei Surgelati srl on the occasion of the relocation of production activities to the new plant in Viale Alcide Degasperi n°2/2 in Cavedine (TN) has launched an initiative, with the support of the European Regional Development Fund, the Italian State and the Autonomous Province of Trento, aimed at achieving important objectives in the areas of priority of intervention provided by the Notice n.2/2017: AGRIFOOD 1. Quality. Food health, nutrition and nutrigenomics, AGRIFOOD 2. Food safety and traceability, AGRIFOOD 3. Productivity and sustainability of agricultural systems

The intervention consists of the purchase of the following machinery to expand the production and automatic packaging of frozen apple products:

  • Apple peeling and processing plant
  • Plant for making poached apples
  • Plant for weighing, counting and vertical packing of product into bags
  • Plant for forming and closing stretched cartons
  • Metal contaminant detection facility (Multifrequency metal detector)
  • Instrumentation for microbiological product control
  • Enterprise supervision and tracking computer system

The implementation of the initiative has enabled Graziadei Surgelati to raise the safety level of its products through the acquisition of a basic microbiology laboratory functional for microbiological analysis of the company’s productions and at the same time allow for a more precise control of incoming raw materials. At the same time, the safety of the finished product is further ensured by the acquisition of a multifrequency metal detector to check the product packed in bags or preformed boxes. The acquisition of machinery for the production of innovative products related to apple processing for the production of folded puff pastry products of various shapes and sizes has enabled Graziadei Surgelati to introduce range expansions, resulting in penetration into previously unattended market segments and foreign markets. Automation of the automatic box forming and closing process and the concomitant acquisition of a machine for counting, weighing, and packing apple products into bags has enabled improvement of the packaging process resulting in increased business productivity. Finally, by interfacing all the company’s machines to Industry 4.0 supervision and traceability software for managing machine settings at times of recipe change, format, maintenance assistance and in monitoring process parameters, it has been possible to effectively implement the levels of safety to traceability required by the most stringent food quality standards.
